For my part, I cheerfully supported Merrill Cook in two elections.

Because of the failure of nearly all Republicans to oppose Bush when it counted, I will never vote for another GOP candidate ever. Rep. Matheson is functionally a GOPer, and no way will I vote for him either.

If a Republican moves into the seat, maybe Dems can recover some of their pride.rmwarnickhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10948594032787232166noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6495998.post-82188762103642043862010-04-16T09:26:00.300-06:002010-04-16T09:26:00.300-06:00Your logic is wrong, my friend. Wright's presence on the general election ticket will _draw_ Democratic voters to the polls, just as Obama's did. Less than 50% of eligible voters vote in Utah, and Wright has the potential to grab new and untapped bodies of voters who would _never_ show up to vote for Matheson, _especially_ given the anger Dems all over the state have been vocalizing since the health care vote. But it's not just the health care vote, by any means. He votes against the Utah Democratic platform on key issues 60% of the time--see the comparison of Matheson and Wright on Wright's website if you want to check that out.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6495998.post-31247105493546004632010-04-16T09:25:42.186-06:002010-04-16T09:25:42.186-06:00Your logic is wrong, my friend. Jim Matheson has been endorsed by Peter Corroon. I'm with Corroon and I get that Corroon needs Matheson if we want unaffiliated and Republicans to cross over.

Health care passed, it is a piss-poor baby step, but last I checked it was called The House of Representatives. Matheson's constituents overwhelmingly wanted Jim to not vote for the bill. He did his job, and although I would have preferred a yes vote, I can see the bigger picture and I would rather have a Matheson any day of the week than a Philpot.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6495998.post-33182546826561452542010-04-15T10:21:09.158-06:002010-04-15T10:21:09.158-06:00Geez!
