HR 4194

You know an issue is a big deal when Liberal DailyKos and Conservative RedState sign a joint letter opposed to something.

Pete Ashdown came out against it on his campaign journal.

What is it?

HR 4194.

It's a bill whose supporters claim will protect free speech for bloggers. However, like most things in Congress, especially those put forth by Republicans, what the bill says it does isn't the whole story.

You see, it limits free speech in political online speech, with the exception of "web logs." It also fails to define what a "web log" is. Everybody would agree that The World, According to Me is a blog, but what about DailyKos? It would also but websites like Mormons for Dean at risk.

Just say no.
