I respond to A Liberal Mormon's Commentor

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Some of the best content on blogs is in the comments section.

A post over at A Liberal Mormon is annother example. It started out as annother post about Rocky and Hannity, and then a commentor got involved.

All typos in the indented segments are the resposibility of the author (Jessica). All other typos are my fault.

Are you kidding me? First of all, member of the church like you are disgracful. How can a member of the church, with the values and ehtics set forth by the church conducive to “being a liberal” It is an oximoron.

The 13th Article of Faith: "We believe in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; ... If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things."

Honest, True, doing good to all men. These seem like the opposite of the current "conservative" leaders of our country.

Second, Hannity did just what you said he didn’t. Rocky’s case is hindsight and unproductive. Hannity explain and proved why an impeachment of Bush wouldn’t be fair.

And, Hannity did it by name calling. That's a great way to prove your arguement.

Oh, and impeaching Bush unfair? How about Clinton's impeachment?

The mere fact that calling President Bush a war criminal is counterproductive to the war that is going on right now.

Actually, Bush being a criminal is counterproductive to the military action going on. Calling someone something doesn't make it true. If that were the case, I request to now be called simply "Millionaire."

The croud was silent for the first time during Sean’s video both of Hilary and the dead Iraqi’s.

Bush's military action has killed more Iraqis than Saddam did. Oh, and if that's the only reason we were there, to overthrow Saddam, why are we still there? Saddam's dead.

How someone could not be humnle and instantaneous awoken to the fact that it DOESN”T MATTER if there is any credibility in the spewage exuded from Rocky’s mouth was credible or not. The damage he and his “liberal friends” are doing by defiling the commander and chief is of catastrophic consequences. It is counter productive an shameful.

Personally, I want the terroists to think we torture regardless if we do or not. I personally don’t care.

I care. If we are torturing people, we have no room to complain when our people get tortured. Also, innocent people are getting tortured.

Send them anywhere but here for inprisonment. Do you want them in your back yard, at your county or state prison?

If my local prison isn't secure enough to keep them in there, then we have many, many more problems on our hands.

Come on…we are the most powerful country in the nation, when did that become a bad thing? If we lose that, we are headed for ultimate destruction.

I'm assuming you mean the most powerful country in the world. In the past 4 years, we have lost our power over the world. And really, what good does that power do you when you can't bring to justice the perpetrators of the largest act of terrorism in the world? In fact, their organization is more powerful now than it was five and a half years ago.

The constitution will be hanging by a thread, and you of all people should know that is fortold by Prophets ancient and modern.

Actually, I don't think that the ancient prophets mentioned the Constitution much. However, the modern ones have. They also have said that the shredding of the constitution will come from within.

The following are just some of the partes of the Constitution that have been shredded during the Bush Administration:

War Declaration Powers (Art. I, Sec. 8)
Abridging freedom of speech (Amendment I)
Abridging freedom ... of the press (Amendment I)
The right of the people peaceably to assemble (Amendment I)
To petition the government for a redress of grievances (Amendment I)
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. " (Amendment IV)
Nor shall (a person) be compelled in any criminal case to be a witness against himself, nor be deprived of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law (Amendment V)
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the state and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, (Amendment VI)
In all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right ... to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation (Amendment VI)
Nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted. (Amendment VIII)

And that's just from a quick scan of the Constitution.

Therefore, how can you being a member of the church live with yourself knowing that you are deconstructing and contributing to the breakdown this great nation.

Pot. Kettle. Black.

Just as conspracy and and tradegy has occured in the Church so does it in Washington. That doesn’t mean that it is justifiable to jump on the band wagon of Mormon bashing or Bush bashing…..it’s APOSTACY!!!!

I haven't seen A Liberal Mormon Mormon-bash.

A*pos*ta*sy. noun. a total desertion of or departure from one's religion, principles, party, cause, etc.

I don't see his view as being a departure from his religion, principles, party, or cause. From your party or cause, maybe...

It may be your constitutional right to be this stupid, but it is not without it’s consequences both here and in the eyes of the Lord.

Yeah, but there's only one reason why that part of the constitution hasn't been snapped yet.

And, Jessica, I have some advice to give you. However, someone said it better than I could.

That someone was you.

So, with only one word change, I'll let you have the final word:

Try praying about this…I can’t imagine Heavenly Father condoning such behavior as you and other members of the Church do which is defiling the Country and it’s leaders. Let Him be the judge, mean while, you should be the better person and rise above this harmful rhetoric which only contribute to the problem and dilinqency of this great nation. Our emenies are one again uplifted and fueled by our countries own [support] of out government. This behavior in UNEXCEPTABLE!!!!!! You will be held accountable for YOUR contribution to this problem, and Bush will as well.

Wow...

Asside from the terrible writing I don't think I've read anything quite so blind in a very long time.

I became interested in politics after I went to what used to be east germany on my mission. I became interested because I saw first hand what happens when government becomes abusive and what that abuse looks like.

Since then I have become more aware that the hardest thing to pin down is what reality is.

The news is taken as truth when the only real truth about what goes on can only be pieced together from rumor.

What I now understand is that there is no big picture that can be understood. There's just too much going on without enough real information. You could chase it all your life and think you see, but still it would only be a part. This is why they are called secret works.

My advice to anyone who is wrapped up in politics is to stop watching the news for 6 months and at the end of the 6 months see if you can tell the difference between all the groups.

A hint for those who won't do this: You won't see a difference anymore. The parties and groups are all pretty much the same. In 10 years the democrats will be disregarding the constitution more than the republicans.

There, I said it. I now expect some number of people to stop talking to me.

at the very least i like knowing that if there is some accountability we are held to at the end of this life, that she will undoubtedly be held accountable for her atrocious use of the english language.

I can't believe I sat and read all of the 190 posts (I admit to skipping through some of Jessica's long ones). It was pretty amusing.
