SL Councilman Luke Garott get street cred, injured in knife fight

OK, so as much cred as you can get getting injured while trying to break up the fight, but still....

From Des News:

A Salt Lake City councilman was wounded Sunday afternoon when he intervened in a knife fight near 655 S. 500 East.

Councilman Luke Garrott, 40, was injured while trying to break up a fight that started by his house. Garrott's liaison said the councilman is fine and will issue a statement about the incident later Monday.

Police said they received a report of two men fighting in the streets with knives. The fight had slowly made its way through several neighbors' yards, said Salt Lake police spokeswoman Lara Jones.

When police arrived, one man was able to flee, but police captured Silias Harper, 41, Jones said. Harper was booked into jail for investigation of aggravated assault, simple assault and vehicle vandalism. While being booked, Harper allegedly kicked a corrections officer, Jones said.

If ever a Council Member were to get nicked in a knife fight, it's Luke.
