Primary Election wrap-up

I did something I had never done before yesterday -- I voted ... ...

...

...

at 6:00 PM. I don't think I have ever voted that late in the day before.

I was voter #100 at a polling place that represented 3 precincts. That's about 9 per hour.

I got into an arguement with a poll worker about filling out the form "making me a Republican." No, I said, I was merely registering a remote connection to the Republican party.

Maybe the comment about not becoming a Republican if they paid me $1,000 was going a bit too far.

Anyway, they allowed me to vote.

In the one race I was able to vote in, I voted for the winner. In the 3 reaces I was interested in, the correct 3 people won.

I'm batting 1.000!

Bobmentum, baby!

P.S. -- Oh, and voter #101 was my Elder's Quarum President, who is a Republican operative. I told him how pointless this who re-affiliating thing was.

Oh, and don't worry, the mail-in form to change my affiliation back is in the mail...

Better than I did. I couldn't bring myself to change, even if it was for a few days.

According to Bob Bernick, "You must be a registered Republican to vote in the 3rd District race. If you are "unaffiliated," not registered in any political party, you can sign up at the polls to be a Republican and vote. But if you are a registered Democrat or officially in any other party, you can't change to Republican at the polling place and vote in the 3rd District race."

Was that report incorrect?

Actually, the resport you site is correct.

According to the Salt Lake County Clerk's office, I am an unaffiliated voter. I will remain that way, with the exception of Primary Election day, until either I die or someone changes rules.
