Second Most Embarrassing Mormon

And the only reason he hasn't yet passed Sen Hatch is because not that many people know what his faith is.

That Person is Glenn Beck.

Glenn hosts a radio show and a TV show on CNN Headline News.

Just a sampling of his comments.

On 6/6/06 (ironically):

During a segment about author Anne Karpf's theory that women's voices have become deeper over the past 50 years, Beck said he "wanted to see if there was anything to this." He proceeded to play two video clips of Clinton, one from 1993 and the other from "today." During the first clip, Beck interrupted Clinton as she stated "I'm not looking for any particular role or position," and said "OK, OK. Bringing back too many memories. Please, stop with that." Beck then presented a second clip of Clinton with her voice artificially deepened, at which point Beck remarked: "I think we may have found our Antichrist and our next president."

Earlier in the broadcast, Beck also considered actress Bea Arthur, NBC Nightly News anchor Brian Williams, and actress Angelina Jolie as candidates for the "Antichrist," before concluding that he had "found our Antichrist" with Clinton.

Hillary is not near popular enough to be the antichrist. Sean Hannity, maybe.

June 2:

On the June 2 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show, CNN Headline News host Glenn Beck accused "liberals" of wanting to "rape" illegal immigrants by "hav[ing] them pay into Social Security" without "allow[ing] them to get any of those funds back." In fact, when the Senate considered an amendment by Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) that would have prevented newly legalized immigrants from receiving credit for Social Security benefits for work done as illegal immigrants, Democrats overwhelmingly opposed the amendment, while Republicans strongly supported it. In the May 18 roll-call vote, 38 of the 44 Senate Democrats voted to table the Ensign amendment, while 44 of 55 the Senate Republicans voted to keep the amendment under consideration. Sen. Jim Jeffords (I-VT) also voted to table the amendment, and Sen. John D. Rockefeller IV (D-WV) did not vote. The amendment was tabled by a 50-49 vote, effectively killing the measure.

May 11:

Blowing up Iran. I say we nuke the bastards. In fact, it doesn't have to be Iran, it can be everywhere, anyplace that disagrees with me.

I've only seen five minutes of one of his shows, but it was about the documentary "Baghdad ER" and he used the word "glorious", I kid you not, to describe his reaction to the scenes of the butchery depicted in that operating room. The two film makers were aghast...they could not believe the idiot used that word either.

I've never seen any of his TV shows, but two of my coworkers are constantly going on and on about his show. They practically worship the guy. I'm not surprised since one of the coworkers is constantly saying the most racist comments imaginable and also generally just some of the dumbest comments, yet thinks he's an intellectual. :(
