Utah *Not* HAVA-compliant

Remember way back in 2000, George W Bush and Al Gore were running for President.

The vote was so close that a recount was required.

However, the recount didn't happen because there was no provision in Florida law about what constituted a recount.

So, Congress passed a law that required us to buy crappy computers to vote on. It also required states to unify their recount procedures.

Which is something Utah forgot to do.

Actually, according to yesterday's Tribune, the Lt Governor's office doesn't feel it important to have statewide recount procedures.

Because that's just what we've always wanted: crappy elections for our two-bit Democracy in Utah.
