Because Republicans have done such a bang-up job of finding bin Laden, dismantling Hezbollah and the like. In fact, I can't remember the last time there was a big terrorist threat. Ignore the red alert last week. And the fact that you can't take your shampoo on the plane anymore. Terrorism has been stopped as long as Republicans are in control, because the terrorists are just waiting for Democrats to be in power.
Oh, but Hatch claims he doesn't recall making the comment to the Tooele Transcript Bulletin. However, his staff still felt the need to clarify. Does Hatch even remember being in Tooele Monday?
"I don't believe terrorists favor Democrats or Republicans," Hatch said [through a spokesman]. "What they are waiting for is the United States to prematurely pull out of Iraq. There are appeasers in both parties but most are leading liberal Democrats."
You'd think the terrorists would want us to stay in Iraq. Surely, it's easier for them to fight us over there than to fight us over here.
Oh, and annother lie, this one from the Tooele Transcript Bulletin:
"There has been nothing major since 9-11."
