Orrin Hatch invented the Hybrid Car

"Last but not least, my little CLEAR Act is in that bill to give economic incentives to develop alternative fuels, alternative-fuel vehicles and alternative-fuel infrastructure. It is a little bill that helped drive the hybrid auto industry into existence."

That was last year that Orrin "helped drive the hybrid auto industry into existence."

Development on hybrids started in the 1970's (The same decade Orrin entered the US Senate). It was helped along by the Clinton Administration in 1993.

The Honda Insight rolled onto our streets in 1999. Toyota Prius came in 2000.

There were over 200,000 hybrids sold last year in America. Orrin didn't help drive anything.

Maybe Orrin just misspoke. Again.

P.S. - Anyone know when Bob Bennett bought his hybrid?
