KSL Nightside -- Chris Cannon Transcript

SLCSpin's Ethan Millard is the political guru for KSL's Nightside Project. They sent him to a fundraiser for the Choice in Education PAC where he got to talk to Rob Bishop and Chris Cannon about the Republican Representative that sent dirty emails to underage boys. The following is a transcription of Chris Cannon's words. Commentary will come in later posts.

Ethan Millard [to studio hosts]: So I asked him what kind of institutional changes did he think needed to be made this time.

Chris Cannon: You know, I've been tinking about this...there's nothing more you can do but educate kides as to the dangers. Frankly, this is the resposibility of parents. If you get on line, you may find people who are creepy.

There are creepy people out there who will do and say creepy things -- Avoid them.

That's what you have to do. And maybe we can say that a little more to the, uh, to the pages.

And, soundbite #2:

Chris Cannon: You know, these kids are actually precocious kids. It looks like, just maybe, this one email was just a prank, just a bunch of kids sitting around, egging this guy on, you know. So, uh...the world's a complicated place, and we just have to do the best we can.

The transcript was done by me, and I take the blame for any mistakes. To hear the piece, visit the Nightside Project's website and click on "Utah's Representatives React to Foley Scandal."
