I always thought that the maximum allowed contribution was $2100 for federal candidates.
Then why did MittPolicyDaily announce the following:

The "McCain-Feingold" Bipartisan Campaign Reform Act required the Federal Election Commission to index contribution limits to inflation. It started at $2000 for the 2003-04 cycle, $2100 for 2005-06, and now $2300 for 2007-08. $200 is not statutorily required, but it seems to be rounded.
