Congratulations, Ethan, I Guess

So, for the second straight year, Ethan over at SLCSpin has one City Weekly's Best of Utah award. This time it was for the best local politics blog.

While I enjoy Ethan's blog, I don't enjoy it as much as I used to. In fact, it's really gone downhill since Ethan got the gig at KSL.

However, after seeing the writeup that CW gave the blog, as well as some of the other crap that won awards, I don't feel like a loser.

Since it's not on their web site yet, I'll let you read what they wrote about Ethan's Blog:

Jokes about Utah's unique political climate might seem to write themselves, but there's a unique wit to Ethan Millard's SLCSpin.com. The unapologetically left-leaning site weighs in seriously on matters like last fall's U.S. Senate election but also has featured such clever touches like an up-to-the-second running clock of Orrin Hatch's time in D.C. (more than 11,000 days, in case you're curious). And how priceless was his note on the change in classifying a planet -- "has sufficient mass for its self-gravity to overcome rigid body forces so that it assumes a ... nearly round shape" -- followed by photos of Sandy Mayor Tom Dolan and Salt Lake City Councilman [sic] Randy Horiuchi?

REALLY?!? That's the crap that SLWeekly is going to produce and give an award to? His post you referenced was one in a series of jokes about Dolan and Horiuchi being fat. Oh, and last I checked, Horiuchi serves on the COUNTY Council.

And left-leaning? He takes more potshots at Republicans because there are more of them to go around. He's more willing to attack Democrats than I am.

While there are other blogs more deserving (In no particular order: OneUtah, the new and improved Utah Amicus, the Senate Site, etc.), congratulations are still in order.

-Bob
