Many Blogs out there will have personal stories about Governor Cal Rampton, who passed away Sunday Night.
I don't.
Gov Rampton left office two years before I was born. Makes you feel old, doesn't it? While he hung around for annother 30 years, I never had the opportunity to meet the man.
I would have liked to, but the opportunity never presented itself.
I have enjoyed hearing stories about him, though. I remember reading an account in a Holly Mullen column a few years back about the lunches he held at the Alta Club. When the Utah Republican Party moved their headquarters there a few years ago, he switched sides of the table so that his back faced the window, and the Republicans.
This was a man who lost several elections, but did not let that keep him away from politics. There is a lesson in that somewhere, especially for a Democrat in Utah in the year 2007.
But, let's not dwell on the past, but lok to the future.
It seems that many people have mentioned that Gov Rampton was their first introduction into politics. And tha lead me to wonder: who will be that introduction to future generations?
I have some ideas, but what do you think?
