Vouchers More Liberal Than Nancy Pelosi

It is my understanding that schools that accept government vouchers will have no accountability to the government.

Zero. Zilch. Nada.

So, government money goes in, but there is no way to account for what that money is being used for.

Feeding at the government trough.

Sounds very non-conservative to me....

You mean the stuff from Section 5 of HB148? The stuff that requires non-discrimination, standardized testing, regular audits by an accountant, etc.? You might want to cruise on over to the text of the bill and rethink your statement.

If you don't think it's adequate or will be properly enforced then fine. Just don't say there's no accountability in the law when there's a good 68 lines of it in the enacting bill.

So... Is this a case of people being told one thing while the bill is actually different?

Telling people that there is no accountability actually can reduce the resistance some people and groups would put up. Who wants to accept money when strings are attached? One of the promises of vouchers I have heard from the beginning was that schools will not have to change the way they operate, but that they could use the money how they saw fit. Telling this story when the text of the bill is actually different is a fine trap that can be used to bring even private schools under the state's control. Thus will end choice in education.

I see this all ending very badly.

No, if Bob has made a mistake I can't hold it against him. There is so much disinformation out there. I take everything not with a grain of salt, but with a salt lick.

Shaun, it appears to me that both sides are seeing whatever it is they want to see and spinning it appropriately.
