The Spirit of 1976: Part VI -- Moral Things

The Salt Lake Tribune, October 14, 1976, page 2B:

Mr Hatch said he wouldn't vote for any congressional pay increases with annual allowances for cost-of-living hikes until deficit budgeting was ended.

Morality in Congress must be achieved, and there must be a return to the Judeo-Christian ethic "to where we look up to our senators and representatives." He added that he believes Sen. Moss to be sincere -- "but sincerely wrong in his approach to our country."

The ultimate moral thing, he said, is to "live within our means." Mr. Hatch added he wouldn't be subserviant to any special interest groups.....

So much goodness in this one. I don't even know where to begin.
