I logged on to Blogger to write a post when I saw this stat graphic:
What caused the spike in stats?
Well, It turns out that national blog Crooks and Liars featured my post on Mitt's Religion Flip-Flop on their blog roundup:
Yeah, I feel special. Especially when you factor some stats from this post:
-My number one all-time (since Google Analytics started calculating in April 2006) visits in a day was June 9 2012.
-The number six all-time source of traffic to my blog is now Crooks and Liars. 100% of the visits have been in the last week. One of the sites above it is no longer in service. Another probably hasn't sent traffic to me in a long time. Another is Google.
-The number six all-time most read post is the one referenced by Crooks and Liars. Only one other post in the top 10 was written since the 2008 election, and that was in 2009.
So, yes, I'm feeling the love. Go to the link, read the post (and watch the video), and share it with friends. Especially your friends who are voting for Romney because he's Mormon.

I'm not an expert, I just play one on the internet.

Hide the Children!

Free Online Dating from JustSayHi
Apparently, It's the fact they found the word "Dick" 8 times.
Does an R rating mean I have to confess to my Bishop when I read my own blog?

A hiatus from my hiatus
I'm on a hiatus from my hiatus. What that means is that I'll be around for the most part next week, then I'm running away again. However, I'll be back the week of August 13 for good, and I'll let you know where I've been and where I'm going.
Maybe I'll hold a contest...

End-of-the-year Awards Time
Well, it's about time for me to issue my second-annual awards.
However, I'd like some help.
I know who I think should get the awards, but I would like some input.
Please send me your nominations, and why you think they should win, in the comments section of this post.
The categories:
Best Local Blog: It must be Utah-related, and a blog.
Newest Internet Addiction
Best Geek Moment
Best Moment on my blog
Utah Politician of the Year
Deadline is whenever I get around to posting my winners, sometime after Christmas.

When I hit 100 and 200 posts, I made a big deal about it. Post #300 will be big and will celebrate a huge milestone for me, and I will be celebrating a few things. However, post 300 needs to stand on it's own.
So, with #299, I will offer a look back, and hopefully provide some insight on this blog's past.
Post #2 February 18, 2004: Post #1 was about NASCAR (back when this was a sightless blog), but #2 was the first political post. Ironic that I mention Shaun, who is now "the guy who lives in my basement."
April 24, 2004: My first County Convention, once again I mention Shaun.
May 28, 2004: A post on outrageous gas prices at $2.026 a gallon.
May 30, 2004: I meet Howard Dean
March 16, 2005: My blog wins it's first award (I bet you didn't even know I was awars winning)
August 26, 2005: I nominate the World's Worst Blog.
September 24, 2005: I defend my right to be harsh on Democrats.
October 18, 2005: 10 Things to do to win in 2006.
November 17, 2005: Post #100
Also November 17, 2005: Hatch = Big Oil (kinda fitting today, ain't it.)
January 19, 2006: I'm a card carrying Republican
February 7, 2006: Post #200.
February 10, 2006: Rob Miller's new blog is celebrated. By the way, he HIGHLY RECOMMENDED my blog.
February 28, 2006: From the Home Office in Holladay, Utah; Tonight's Top 10 List: "Having Dubai run U.S. ports is like..."
March 21, 2006: I'm madder'n Hell!
Enjoy the trip down Memory Lane. I've decided that some day I'll have to post all of my Hatch v Ashdown posts.

Novemebr 17, 2005, I finally hit 100 posts.
February 7, 2006, I already hit 200 Points.
Wow. it's hard to believe. 200 posts. and 100 coming in the past 83 days.
The blog has grown by leaps and bounds. And for that I only have you, dear reader, to thank.
Oh, and by way of updating, Bloggers for Pete Ashdown is up to 3 blogs with the addition of Part of the Plan, with us up to $69.04 donated.
Let's keep it up!

Making money
OK, here's the deal. I am broke. I need money. In reality, a blog is not the place to make it. However, every little bit helps. So, I have started an online store, selling t-shirts and stuff. It is similar to CafePress, but gives us non-artistic types a little more flexability. You can find the store here, or click the t-shirt on the right. I'll feature a different shirt from time to time. Everything you buy will get me a little extra cash, and help justify my existance in the blogosphere. Except the "Vote for Pete" shirt. I just don't feel right making a buck on someone else's campaign.
Also, right above the shirt picture is a place where you can buy adspace. If you have a business or a blog (or even just a message) you would like to share with my readers, click on "your ad here" and buy an ad. Rates are cheap!
Google ads will be going away as soon as I can earn my $100. If you know how to help me on this, help by doing what I can't tell you to do.

Technocrati Authority
Technocrati has some fun tools. One is using their authority rankings.
For Utah blogs, I rank #4.
For Utah POlitics, I rank #1 (of 1).
For Mormon blogs, I rank #10.
Must. Get. More. Links.

Comments
Hey, this blog has gotten the attention of someone, and they're posting comments.
However, I'm also starting to get comment SPAM. So, now you have to do a word verification to post comments.
If you think this is a lame idea, tell me as a comment to this thread.

A new focus
I have decided to take this blog in a new focus. It will deal with mostly local politics. I will also post here on topics I find of interest from other blogs I read.
One to look at is this post from Brian's Utah Weblog: Utah Shortchanged In Transportation Funding
Brian talks about how the money Senators Hatch and Bennett are excited about getting us in the new transportation bill is really shortchanging Utahns.
We got $1.8 Billion, which is a ton. However, how much is our fair share?
Brian says somewhere between $2.3 and $3.7 Billion.

Coming soon
Coming soon, to a blog near you (OK, this one): Audioblooging, AKA podcasting!
This will enable me to blog more often, but you'll have to listen to my voice (I have a face for radio and a voice for the internet.
